Project 1251

A new house on a farm in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Wiltshire. The location of the new dwelling is a clearing within a woodland near to existing farm buildings. The building had to be set within the trees to ensure it was not visible from a nearby Scheduled Ancient Monument. The house provides comfortable family accommodation as well as provision for working from home. Careful consideration was given to the orientation of the house to ensure a protection of residential amenity space from the adjacent farm buildings. Traditional detailing was utilised with local natural materials, including stone quoins and surrounds, and hand-selected bricks, to ensure the building is of high design quality. Internally, the property makes the most of renewable technologies, using air source heat pumps and provision for future solar power.
